Journaling 101

Journaling is one of the ways to deal with any overwhelming emotion. Journaling is helpful as it creates a safe space for us to express ourselves. Journaling can help you manage anxiety, reduce stress, and cope with depression. Journaling is helpful and must be made a habit to be most beneficial. It’s important to: 1) Make it meaningful to you. Journal, write and discuss what matters to you. Research journal topics if necessary. 2) Set aside time and make it happen. Create a time every day and/or week depending on your schedule to journal. Make sure it’s during a realistic time where you can sit and complete your journaling. 3) Select journaling tools that speak to your personality. Use special pens, pencils and notebooks or journals that match your personal style. 4) Create a journaling space/ environment. Create an environment for journaling perhaps with your favorite drink/cocktail, favorite pillow or blanket, or with your favorite candle burning.   When I initially engaged ...
